![]() The Bible states in 1 Timothy 5 “Whereas he who lives in pleasure and self-gratification (giving himself up to luxury and self-indulgence) is dead even while he (still) lives!” (Amplified) Selfishness leads to death, self-lessness leads to life! The lifestyle of someone that is in addiction is the most selfish lifestyle that there is. Whether it is to alcohol, drugs, porn, gambling, food, co-dependency or whatever. It is centered on self- indulgence. They are dead inside though they live. It is a heart-wrenching reality in the world in which we live. But! Thank God for His Word! The Word of God, sharper than a two-edged sword! The Word, the very revelation of God, the instruction of God, His divine promise, divine doctrine, divine declaration of God. Jesus is the living logos (word); the Bible is the written logos (word): and the Holy Spirit utters the spoken logos (word)! This is why at the Compassion Connection, our number one text book is THE BIBLE! Look at what it has to say in Psalm 119:9 “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to your Word!” (NKJV) Through His Word we learn His ways, which lead to life! The Word teaches us that this life comes through death, death to self, death to flesh, self-indulgences of any kind. This takes place through the logos – Word – “Jesus, the Bible, and the Holy Spirit.” Renewing the mind through the logos. (Romans 12:2) From the Amplified it reads: “Do not be conformed to this world (this age) (fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs), but be transformed (changed) by the (entire) renewal of your mind (by its new ideals and its new attitude), so that you may prove (for yourselves) what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect (in His sight for you.)” As the men enter the Compassion Connection they don’t even realize the severity of their self-centeredness but it isn't long and they begin to recognize it, and they start seeing the change take place. As we just completed our last 90 day session and had our graduation service Sunday, our latest graduate Jesse made this statement: “I am much more passionate about the Word of God after going through the program! The Word has drastically changed my life! I plan on continuing to grow through the study of God’s Word!” Praise the Lord! That blesses my heart! “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life; and this life was the light of men!” John 1:1-4 Transforming lives, building a foundation to stand on for a life time, that is our purpose and mission at the Compassion Connection! Our next 90 day session will begin on either the 5th date is finalized. Please pray for this ministry for we know that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age. Thank you all for your support and gifts at the graduation open house! It was a blessing. That really does mean a lot to the graduates! Thank you for your overall support of the Compassion Connection. It is greatly appreciated. May God richly bless you and your family during this Easter season. He is Risen indeed! Pastor Reg Myers Compassion Connection Director “And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (Rev. 12:11) At Compassion Connection, everything we do is focused on Jesus Christ the Lamb of God - the
wonderful blood of the lamb, the pure precious blood. We know what the blood is capable of and that is why we zero in on it! We don’t focus on the addiction or the particular dysfunction. No, we focus on the solution! But what is it that gives the blood such life-transforming power - the very power that sets the captive free? (Isaiah 53:7) tells us plainly, “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and so a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.” Jesus Christ went to the cross because He was a lamb. He did not become a lamb because of the cross! His lamb- like disposition, his lamb-like character, the essence of the lamb permeated mount Moriah that unforgettable day on Calvary. The men who both attend weekly meetings and those who are in our 90-day program are pointed in the direction of the Lamb. Even as I write this, fresh on the heels of our meeting last night, all I can envision is the Lamb of God. Thank God for the Lamb of God. “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29) It is through the blood of the lamb that we continue to see men’s lives transformed. As the need out there is great, we will move forward to minister to those who come in through our doors. We are now starting our third week of the 90-day session and we will take in men up until six weeks in. We are so thankful to Bob and Jeanine Solum our in-house directors. They are doing a fantastic job. Also Tom Terrill, our Washburn County chaplain, and our volunteers! A special thank you to Steve Johnson and Stan Sandler, who are truly a blessing! Thank you all for your faithful support, as I have said before: without you, this ministry would not be possible. May God pour out His richest blessings upon you. Pastor Reg Myers Compassion Connection Director Vision inspires perseverance. After Moses’ death, Joshua accepted the call and challenge to lead God’s people into the land of promise. “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.” (Joshua 1:3) After making this promise to Joshua, God then provided a more detailed blueprint for a vast expanse of territory that extends from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. (Joshua 1:4)
God’s promise is a done deal. All Joshua and the people of God have to do is keep on stepping forward. The verses that follow exhort Joshua, “Don’t stop, look back or deviate to the left or the right. In the face of opposition and conflict, just keep on keeping on. Stay on the journey looking forward. Don’t become comfortable or satisfied when you begin to be filled with fruits that are produced in the land of milk and honey. The abundance that you experience today is not yet the place of ultimate promise. The resistance that you meet tomorrow is not the place of ultimate defeat. Don’t quit, stop, or settle for anything less than the realization of the place of promised destination that you visualized when you first heard God call your name.” When a leader has a clear picture of God’s destination, the people begin to articulate and live that vision. Over a period of time, that vision begins to penetrate the surrounding culture—vision clarifies God’s purpose and direction. Never jump ship in the face of resistance and opposition! They who do never experience the promise of God because they quit stepping forward; they start over again back at the beginning. You will never reach God’s place of promise if you keep starting over. Praise the Lord, the vision that was given for the establishing of the Compassion Connection has never wavered! The vision was given, the work was set in place, and we have moved forward accordingly. We have never stopped reaching out to those in need through various seasons and stages of the ministry. God’s will has gone forward! As I write, we are in position to see the greatest days yet ahead! Things are coming together in ways that only could, in God’s timing! We are so excited about what God is doing now, and what He is putting together for the future of this ministry! Moses was prepared for 80 years to serve for 40 years. God’s best for the Compassion Connection is still to come! We believe that all of God’s promises are good; not one of them will fail. All of the promises of God in Christ are affirmed and answered with God’s YES and AMEN! Thank you for your support; without the Body coming together, this work would not be possible! Blessings to you and your loved ones! Pastor Reg Compassion Connection Director |
